My Photography
My interest in taking photographs began with the admiration I have for my stepfather's photography. The images he captured in his time and adventures while he was in the Navy, worked for the National Geographic and the National Park Service, showed me his love for nature and life.
I began taking photographs in 2001, using the digital camera on a small Panasonic camcorder. As my interest grew, so did my passion for the art as well as my equipment vault. I became a Combat Documentation and Production Specialist (Combat Camera) in 2006 and have traveled to over 40 countries capturing imagery and sharing my vision with the world. My photos have been published in several major civilian and military publications. I graduated in 2017 from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications’ Military Photojournalism Program. I was also selected as the 2017 Army Combat Photographer of the Year. My last postion in the military was as a photojournalist at 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera), where I worked as a Visual Information (VI) subject matter expert, VI assessment manager, and helped develop VI training. I'm currently the Multimedia Director for the Tragedy Assistnace Program for Survivors (TAPS), Arlington, VA.
